From The
President's Desk

Over the last several months, as a business owner, I know I have spent many nights worrying about what the weather conditions are doing to my business.  There is no doubt that it has been a difficult year once again for loggers and truckers alike.  It has not only been raining constantly, but the accumulative amounts are high besides.  Anyone who has been in the business knows that this is part of the pattern.  The logging economy is like a roller coaster ride.  Up and down, up and down.  What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger…..right?  Even with the weather that we have had, when I think about it, I am truly grateful, because it can always be worse.  I think about all the land that is burning or has burnt.  We have several burning in Canada, Montana, Oregon, California and so on.  In June USA Today reported that “27 large wildfires are burning across the west”.  In Texas, they are cleaning up after hurricane Harvey and more recently, Florida is cleaning up after hurricane Irma.  It is hard to stay positive with all the devastation.  Our hearts and prayers go out to all involved.  We also thank everyone who has helped in anyway.  The only positive spin that I can put on all of this, is that eventually there will be rebuilding, which means more markets and jobs.  As a fourth generation Logger, I have seen many ups and downs and I am still logging and plugging along because it is what I love to do and I wouldn’t change the path that I choose for anything.
